CM has hit anti-Maoist fight: CPM
Leader of the Opposition Surya Kanta Mishra today accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of having done “irreparable damage” in the fight against Maoists by withholding operations of the joint security forces in Junglemahal.
“The fact that she kept her word has helped the Maoists spread their influence to other areas. Four people had to lose their lives because she kept her word,” said Mishra, referring to Banerjee’s statement at a rally in Jhargram today that while she had kept her word and stopped joint operations for four months, the Maoists hadn’t stuck to their promises.
Mishra, the CPI(M) MLA from West Midnapore, said he did not expect a solution to emerge within the seven-day deadline the CM has given to Maoists to lay down arms and come to the negotiating table.
“We are not able to understand what the government wants,” he said, terming Banerjee’s attitude as “opportunistic, indecisive, vague, and full of double standard
